Hello Parents, Boys and Girls, here is a recent article from the LASD Newsletter about music at ACES. Enjoy!
Hello Thunderbolt Community!
The music room at ACES has been
alive with excitement as we work through the winter/spring semester. Students
in 5th grade are learning Ukuleles and Dulcimers as part of our
music curriculum. At home and virtually, students are learning to play
recorders using video instruction and virtual interaction. 4th
graders are learning to read notes as they play xylophone bell sets in the
music room. In addition, the 4th and 5th grade students
are participating in band lessons and group choral instruction before the
school day. This has certainly been more challenging this year, but we continue
to do everything in our power to keep all students safe. Chorus and band
students are preparing for a virtual or in person concert in May 2021.
Second and Third graders are
singing and playing games from Africa and other countries. They are continuing
to sing and play instruments during each music lesson. They are being
introduced to music and dances from many different cultures and disciplines.
Kindergarten and First grade
students working on feeling the steady beat of music and performing basic
musical rhythms. They are learning to discover their singing voice and are
practicing playing instruments in the music room. Finally, all K-2 students are
learning about a different band instrument each lesson that students will one
day be able to learn here at ACES.
Every
student at ACES can learns to sing and has countless opportunities to do so.
Every student at ACES plays multiple instruments in class and has the
opportunity to learn a specialized band instrument with private group lessons
taught by Mr. Bish and Mr. Lobaugh. Every student has the opportunity in
multiple grades to participate in choral groups. Every student at ACES leaves 5th
grade with an incredibly strong understanding and talent of what it means to be
a musician. This is why the ACES music room truly is a great place for all students
to learn and begin their journey to become a truly great musician.
